View of the Björkegrenska shipping office
Welcome to a tour of the Björkegrenska shipping office - a mini-museum in the Björkegrenska farm, Storgatan 22 in Simrishamn. Österlens Museum has restored the old Björkegrenska shipping office, as it probably looked in the 1880s, during the time of shipowner Johan Daniel Björkegren. The shipping operations began in the late 1830s with schooner shipping along the coasts of the Baltic Sea. Gradually, the operations were expanded to include larger ships towards Europe and further across the Atlantic to South and North America. Members of the Gamla Cimbrishamn association show the shipping office and tell about the former shipping operations.
