Exhibition Mårten Tollin

Mårten Tollin is educated at the Art School in Gävle 1997-98, BA (hons) Fine Art: Painting Northbrook College, UK 1998 -01. As well as at MA Fine Art, University of the Creative Arts, UK 2016 -19 (part-time). At Northbrook College the focus was painting based on observation.
Observation as a starting point has since been part of my methodology. Often the motifs are everyday. Theoretically, the depiction of the everyday in a larger perspective can be seen as a comprehensive global research project from which one can come to conclusions about what we have in common and what requires change. Then there are also the occasional experiment that deviates from the method described above.

During my time on my master's degree I started working with graphics. Oil painting was too slow a medium to be able to translate ideas at a reasonably high pace. I started experimenting, partly with screen and partly with linoleum.
