Tomelilla - artists´chosen place on Earth

The beautiful landscapes, the unique light, and favorable conditions for artistic collaborations have made the Tomelilla area a center of artistic attention for more than a century. In the early 20th century, Tomelilla and Österlen were primarily summer retreats for artists. Today, affordable housing and great opportunities to establish a studio have resulted in Tomelilla Municipality having a high proportion of residents who work as professional artists.

The exhibition Tomelilla - konstnärens plats på jorden (Tomelilla - The Artist's Place on Earth) showcases works from Tomelilla Municipality's art collection, as well as borrowed pieces from individual artists and from the Tomelilla Art Collection Foundation. The works represent several artists who share the common trait of having chosen Tomelilla as their place on earth to create and work.
