Tiled roofs and barking
Brick roofs with whitewashed barks are strongly associated with Simrishamn. It is said that the word barking comes from the English word "shell", which means shell. Is it really true that the mill used is made from seashell or mussel shell? Come and watch as master mason Henrik Nilsson, from h.n building maintenance, carries out a unique mussel shell burning in Österlen's museum's garden. Henrik also demonstrates how to underline tile roofs and perform barking. Municipal antiquarian Paulina de Vries tells about Simrishamn's brick history.
