Strong women
Welcome to an evening of women's history!
On Saturday, March 8 (International Women's Day), Borrby Bokby and the Qlara Network invite you to a mingle and lecture. Author Louise Lindblom presents her book "The Troublesome Ones - The Unruly Girls of the Shelter". A story about the unruly girls who were taken into care at the Lingatan shelter outside Lysekil during the first half of the 20th century. The book is based on medical records, notes, and police reports from a time when the term "unruly" could be interpreted as poor dental health, sexual misconduct, and running away. Louise Lindblom gives a voice to these girls who were placed in institutions for an uncertain time in order to become good citizens.
Maria Näslund, Göteborgs-Posten: "Through thorough research and digging into archives, author Louise Lindblom has made it possible for us to get a picture of those taken into care and their lives."
