Rock musical from Malmö Opera

We in Ystad will have the premiere of Malmö Opera's musical "tick, tick... BOOM." A rock musical about young artists with big dreams and little money. It's the 1990s. Almost no one has a mobile phone, the internet is barely invented, and the AIDS epidemic is raging. Jon is a young musician and composer with a dream of writing a completely new kind of musical, relevant to the times. He struggles with his writing and gets by with side jobs at a fast-food restaurant.

No one wants to stage his musical, and his 30th birthday is rapidly approaching. Jon increasingly feels that it’s almost too late to make his breakthrough. The clock is ticking... One by one, his artist friends give up on their dreams and take “regular” jobs.
