On a stroll through the Ystad of bygone times

The Ystad museums' photo archive contains a number of interesting photographs of Ystad and its inhabitants. The oldest pictures are from the 1850s. Thanks to the photographs, you can get a picture of how the city has changed over time. It can also be seen that the oldest personal photographs were taken in a photo studio and that newer technology made it easier to take portraits outdoors.

The exhibition shows different parts of Ystad and some of its inhabitants, companies and exhibitions. The photographs are taken over an almost 100-year period, the oldest being from the 1860s, the newest from the 1950s. Some places are recognisable, others are completely changed; from a bygone era.
