A musical gala with Emmi Christensson and some of Sweden's biggest musical stars! The musical concert No Business Like Show Business returns to Ystads Teater, featuring the internationally acclaimed Emmi Christensson.

Emmi Christensson is known for her leading roles in several classic musicals, including Maria in West Side Story, Liesl in Sound of Music, and Cosette in Les Misérables. She is especially renowned for her portrayal of Christine in Phantom of the Opera, a role she performed over 500 times in London's West End and at Cirkus in Stockholm.

Joining her are some of Sweden’s most popular musical stars: Johan Hwatz, Kim Bergkvist, Fredrik Sjöstedt, and Kristina Hahne. Their impressive performances will be complemented by Emmi Christensson, as they interpret some of the most beloved songs from the world of musicals.

No Business Like Show Business offers a unique journey through musical history, starting with melodies from the earliest musicals like Teaterbåten and extending to contemporary musical masterpieces.

At Ystads Teater, you'll experience stellar solo performances and grand ensemble numbers, creating an experience on par with Broadway and West End. A night every musical lover will remember.

Emmi Christensson – known from Phantom of The Opera, West Side Story, Les Misérables. Emmi is an educated singer and musical artist with leading roles in iconic musicals such as Maria in West Side Story, Liesl in Sound of Music, and Cosette in Les Misérables. She has performed Christine in Phantom of the Opera around 500 times both in London and Stockholm. Emmi is also a seasoned concert singer, having appeared on various TV shows including Så ska det låta, Allsång på Skansen, Doobidoo, Moraeus med mera, Lotta på Liseberg, and Victoriadagen. In 2018, she competed in Melodifestivalen with the song “Icarus.” Her voice can also be heard in the new version of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, where she voiced Belle.

Johan Hwatz (tenor) – known from Kristina från Duvemåla, Sound of Music, Chess. Johan trained at the School of Drama and Music in Gothenburg and has appeared in several productions at Malmö Opera, including The Fantasticks, Tusen och en natt, and Troll i kulisserna. His other credits include Sound of Music, Sweet Charity, and Little Shop of Horrors. Johan is currently featured in the musical Matilda at Svenska Teatern in Helsinki.

Kim Bergkvist (soprano) – known from A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, The Last Five Years. Kim trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the School of Drama and Music in Gothenburg. She has had various musical roles and toured worldwide on cruise ships and with the show Arrival The Music of ABBA. Kim has performed in Sweeney Todd, Hamlet, and numerous other productions. Most recently, she played Susan in TICK...TICK...BOOM! and Cathy in THE LAST FIVE YEARS. In 2024, Kim will appear at Helsingborgs Stadsteater in Tysta Maria and Oceanen vid vägens slut.

Fredrik Sjöstedt (baritone) – known from Anastasia, Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd. Fredrik trained at the Ballet Academy's musical line in Gothenburg and has appeared in West Side Story, Camera, and Les Misérables. He has also been seen in Something Rotten!, Skönheten och Odjuret, and Dead or Alive. Recently, Fredrik played Sweeney Todd at Lilla Beddinge Teater and is currently featured in Joyride (Roxette) at Malmö Opera.

Kristina Hahne (alto) – known from Cabaret, Annie, Sound of Music, Mitt om Natten. Kristina trained as a musical artist and has worked in musicals, shows, and concerts since 2001. She has played roles such as Sally Bowles in Cabaret and Miss Hannigan in Annie. Kristina has also appeared in Cats, Grease, and Spring Awakening. She was most recently seen in the revival of Mitt om natten at Nöjesteatern in Malmö.
