Nils Landgren Funk Unit 30 years!

30 years of Funk!
2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the Nils Landgren Funk Unit.
It all started in 1994 when the band played at the Jazz Baltica festival in Germany, with James Brown's saxophonist Maceo Parker as a guest.
Nils was offered a record contract by the company ACT and the manager of the company had one condition: that the band change its name from Unit to Funk Unit.
Why then?, asked Nils
Because you play funk, said the manager.
Easy.
The concert with Maceo was recorded 2 weeks later at the Stockholm Jazz & Blues festival and became "Live in Stockholm".
The rest is history. Nils and Magnum Coltrane Price have been involved from the beginning. Andy, Jonas, Petter and Ikiz probably 10-15 years.
Just in time for Music under the Stars, Funk Unit releases its 12th album titled "RAW" to celebrate 30 years of raw and honest Funk.
