A brilliant musician and beloved artist is performing her sixth jazz festival in Ystad. Saxophonist Nicole Johänntgen from Zurich, Switzerland, has conquered a place in the hearts of jazz audiences through both sublime solo performances and exciting super projects. Add pure musical genius and joy. This time, Nicole Johänntgen presents “Robin”, a flying project with saxophone, piano, bass and percussion in a double set that evocatively lifts Cuban rhythms to new heights. Nice swing and danceable groove are guaranteed as well as limitless dynamics and winding improvisations. The meeting with wandering robins in Central Park in New York, “American robins”, has inspired the project name.
