Lunchvisning fredagar kl. 12.30

Exhibition Viewing: Friday at 12:30 of "Gränstrakt" at Ystad Art Museum

The viewing is included in the admission fee and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

"Gränstrakt" is an exhibition that brings together landscape paintings from Skåne from the period 1850–1950 with contemporary works. Both Malmö Art Museum and Ystad Art Museum are hosting this exhibition, showcasing older paintings in dialogue with contemporary pieces. "Gränstrakt" is thus a dual-site exhibition.

Through the lens of landscape painting, the exhibition explores our relationship with nature and ourselves over time. Today, questions of national identity and belonging in relation to art and culture are once again prominent in Swedish politics. "Gränstrakt" examines the role of landscape painting in relation to ideas about a culturally homogeneous and original place in the past, and how artistic representations have been used to create feelings of belonging.

At Ystad Art Museum, "Gränstrakt" focuses on the first half of the 20th century and five landscape painters who are well-represented in the collection. Their works are displayed alongside contemporary pieces
