National guard, snapping cocks and spy witches

Joanna Vadenbring lectures on resistance and integration in wartime Österlen 1675-1679. The lecture is also about preparedness before and during ongoing war, and how the snappanery was associated with it in Scania. The focus is on the local people's choices and how they were often caught between the two sides of the war.

Joanna Vadenbring is a historian and wrote her doctoral thesis on the Scanian War. Since then, she has continued to research both individual destinies and warfare in 17th-century Scania. She regularly lectures on the Scanian War both in museums and in schools.

In collaboration with the Association for Ancient Heritage and Homeland Conservation in South-Eastern Scania. After the lecture, coffee and apple cake are served. Price: SEK 150, member SEK 120. Ticket purchase: simrishamn.se/museum
