Joanna Hellgren

Joanna Hellgren, born in 1981 in Stockholm, is one of our most interesting contemporary Swedish cartoonists and illustrators. Since 2008, she has published several of her own books as well as illustrated books for other authors, such as Katarina Taikon, Emma Virke, Anna-Clara Tidholm.

As an illustrator for children's books and in his book collaborations with other authors, Hellgren works variedly in his image creation. Common to Hellgren's pictures is her somewhat naive semi-realistic style, with an emphasis on mood and moods. Not infrequently, the images are created using collage techniques.

In the exhibition Brothers and Other Creatures, original sketches and interactive environments from eight of Hellgren's books and book collaborations are presented.
