Deer and frogs in the Ållskog region
In the areas west of Fyledalen there are several nature reserves with orchids and many exciting animals. Exactly what we focus on this Saturday night depends on the weather. If it's warm and reasonably quiet, we visit a hidden gem that not many people know about: Skoghuset's Enefälad. Here there is a several-hundred-headed bell-frog population that, if the weather is favorable, offers a fantastic, squelchy carpet of sound. Edible frogs grunt from the ponds and when it gets dark the tree frogs start their crackling concert. Here we also see gray wagtails and, with a little luck, maybe some fallow deer or red deer. You need to roll under a barbed wire fence and climb over a stone walled yard.
If the weather is not favorable for frogs, we instead aim for a walk through the alternating bush, pasture and forest lands in the Skogshejdan nature reserve. Here we can e.g. get to see deer, orchids and maybe wild boar. On the way home, we drive slowly through part of the Fyle Valley and look for game.
There is only room to park a couple or three cars at the excursion destination, so we will have to carpool as much as possible - if not from Simrishamn, then at least from a gathering place in Fyledalen.
The start time 20:00 refers to our departure from Simrishamn. Return to Simrishamn shortly after midnight.
MANDATORY PRE-REGISTRATION to Björn, 070–2687171, no later than Thursday 16 May.
