Autumn break at Ystad Art Museum

Inspired by the black embroideries of artist Charlotte Elm Ravn and her fascination with the color black, we explore different types of blackness – from the black holes of the universe to philosophical and aesthetic reflections on life’s small and big questions.

The workshop begins with a joint conversation about blackness and darkness from a cosmological, philosophical and aesthetic perspective. We experiment with the color black in the techniques of collage and assemblage. All the materials we use are black. The focus is on form, structure and material. Is the blackness soft, rough, tickling or perhaps sticky?

By working with multiple layers of meaning, we learn what art can be. What do we associate blackness and darkness with? What can it mean for us humans? The workshop is in Lilla ateljén on October 29 at 1:00 PM—3:00 PM (Drop in)
