Guest play at Rynge Teater: "Frida Uhl"

Rynge Teater proudly presents a guest performance from Strindberg's Intima Teater in Stockholm.

About the show:
Frida Uhl was a versatile artist and hard-working theater and art critic. Today she is perhaps best known as "Strindberg's second wife", but her own importance for modern literature and culture is significant. Frida was one of the many forgotten women who fought for artistic freedom and against the censorship of everything that was considered morally questionable.

She lived an adventurous life, moving between Berlin, Paris, London and New York. Her life was full of scandals and bold projects, where she fought for women's right to economic independence, sexual liberation and intellectual sharpness. Frida had two children, Friedrich with Frank Wedekind and Kerstin with August Strindberg.

As a pioneer in the performing arts, she had a sense for new trends and started cabaret scenes and created networks for artists and performers. During her travels, she translated her husbands' texts into several languages, including Strindberg's scientific writings into English, and created work opportunities for them all over the world.

By dramatizing parts of Frida's life taken from her own notes, letters and texts, we want to highlight her outstanding work, her courage and how she shows us the direction towards renewal and development into the future.
