Author visit: Tomas Colbengtson

Tomas Colbengtson is exhibiting in Tomelilla Art Gallery and is taking the opportunity to talk about his book Soejvene. Tomas is Sami, born and raised in a small village Björkvattnet Tärna, on the border with Norway. The main theme of his work is about identity, issues that affect all people. In his art, he also examines how the colonial legacy has changed the lives and landscapes of indigenous peoples. Through his visual art, Tomas strives to repatriate the Sami cultural heritage and revitalize his native language, Southern Sami. He works primarily with visual art, glass and graphic art on many different materials. In 2024, Tomas was awarded the Queen Sonja Print Award, which is the world's largest and most prestigious graphic art prize.
