Lecture with music

In a unique 17th-century performance where music and lectures alternate, you will hear how it happened when Skåne was ceded to Sweden with the Peace of Fontainebleau in 1679.

Historian Johanna Vadenbring talks about the peace negotiations when the leading monarch in Europe, Louis XIV – known as the Sun King – ruled in Sweden's favor.

Between the narrative sections, music is played on period instruments, composed for the ceremonies surrounding the king's bedtime, Trios pour le coucher du Roi by Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687), as well as by other composers at court.

Musicians are Adam Grauman, viola da gamba, and Anders Ljungar-Chapelon and Erik Rynell, traverse flutes.

The event is held in collaboration between Glimmingehus and the Association for the Preservation of Ancient Monuments and Heritage in Southeast Skåne.

The performance is given in the castle's main hall and tickets can be booked via email, glimmingehus@raa.se .
