Lecture: The Royal Ship Kronan

Lars Einarsson is a marine archaeologist and project manager for the Regal Ship Kronan, Kalmar County Museum. He talks about the dramatic history of the Regal Ship Kronan and the marine archaeological investigations of the wreck that have been ongoing since its discovery in 1980. The Kronan, the largest ship of its time, sank on June 1, 1676 in battle with a combined Danish-Dutch fleet 6 km off eastern Öland. There were 850 men on board. Only about forty survived the disaster.
