Lecture: Elisabeth Punzi
How did Freud's Jewish identity influence his work and the development of psychoanalysis? Lecturer Elisabeth Punzi, licensed psychologist and associate professor at the University of Gothenburg, takes us on an in-depth journey through Freud's life and ideas. Based on her research, she highlights how Freud's Jewish background and the anti-Semitism he encountered shaped his thoughts, texts and positions.
Elisabeth Punzi is active at the Department of Social Work and the Center for Critical Cultural Heritage Studies. The lecture focuses on Judaism and how Freud's Jewish identity contributed to the emergence of psychoanalysis and opens up new perspectives on his importance for both science and culture.
