The EU and the forest
The government does not want the EU to interfere in how Sweden manages its forests. At the same time, the entire EU forest policy applies throughout the EU. The EU's policy includes, among other things, that 30% of nature must be protected, including 30% of the forest.
Erik von Pistohlkors, head of economic and political reporting at the EU Commission's representation in Sweden, explains the concepts and talks about the EU's strategy for forests and biological diversity.
