An unexpected clearing

Anders Rosengren, a physician and professor at the University of Gothenburg, will lecture based on his book An Unexpected Glade - Thoughts on Health and Existence.

The book is linked to current challenges that we face in terms of ill health and climate threats. In many ways, it touches on the World Health Organization's work on existential health, which is about how we relate to life, but which has long been overshadowed by the more measurable aspects of health.

What does it mean to be human? With Tomas Tranströmer's poetic world as the sounding board and with perspectives on contemporary authors, different traditions of thought and scientific discoveries, we approach this question in An Unexpected Glade. The book encourages us to see health as managing life, with its joys and disappointments, wounds and recovery, illnesses and aging. And to live with a humility for what it means to be human: to never be finished

For many years, Anders Rosengren has worked to unite literature, existential traditions and medicine to illuminate different aspects of health and existence. It has attracted a lot of attention, and the research initiative Lifestyle Tool, which he started in 2016 to combine science with existential questions, is currently attended by over 100,000 people. Anders Rosengren has previously published the book Hela livet (2021).
