Emil Jensen Trio
An uplifting experience with one of Sweden's most brilliant stage artists. Emil Jensen combines and blends his songs and spoken word on record and in book form as he embarks on a Swedish tour in spring 2024. Everyone who has seen Emil captivate his audience over the years has experienced his completely unique mix of music and wordplay, seriousness and comedy, personal and political themes. Now, for the first time, he brings this blend to an album, "Än susar skogen – sånger och snack," a concept album about biodiversity that is both a record and a book. Along with this, he will present a show that mixes material from the album with new writings and selections from his vast collection of songs and spoken pieces.
"In the midst of a burning world and a dark time, it feels more important than ever to highlight the ingenious life on Earth. To marvel at what we have, over the planet that we so dearly want to keep. Therefore, I will be talking and singing about nature conservation, cultural preservation, and peace – a reminder report among all the alarm reports," says Emil about the show.
In recent years, Emil has toured with his unique performances to packed houses across the country, from Dramaten to Way Out West, from Ale's Stones in the south to Kiruna in the north. In the summer of 2022, Emil conducted a notable climate tour through Sweden entirely by bicycle. He covered 4000 kilometers with his guitar in a case, a solar panel on his bike rack, and performed 36 shows with the acclaimed performance "Än susar skogen." It was an unconventional yet concretely impactful statement for sustainability, peace, and the ingenious life on Earth.
Few artists have the ability to approach the most difficult questions and continually find the twists and humor in seriousness, thus infusing the audience with strength, courage, comfort, and engagement at a time when it is needed most. To understand Emil's versatility as an artist, the awards he has received provide some insight. He has been awarded the Evert Taube Prize for songwriting, the Gustav Fröding Prize for poetry, the Karl Gerhard Prize for his shows, numerous environmental awards, and has been nominated for the Martin Luther King Prize for civil courage. He has also delivered several acclaimed summer and winter talks on Swedish Radio, where he is a regular contributor to "Godmorgon, världen" and "Tankar för dagen." All of this combines to create a unique expression that has become his own, where audiences and listeners are moved between melancholy and hope, serious global issues and humorous personal stories, in a mix that leaves no one untouched.
