Bo Swenson - Fords

Opening reception on Saturday, September 7th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The exhibition will be inaugurated at 12:00 PM with a conversation between the gallery’s curator and Marianne Rudin, a long-time friend of Bo Swenson.

Bo Swenson, 1932-2022, is one of Sweden’s foremost modernist painters and graphic artists, whose unmistakable and consistent style is characterized by lively dynamic compositions and bright, bold colors. He studied at the Royal Institute of Art and made his debut in 1963 at Gallerie Blanche in Stockholm. His painting can be described as modernist nature romanticism, with all unnecessary elements stripped away.

In 2008, the new Kulturhuset in Tomelilla was inaugurated, and the newly renovated art gallery opened with an exhibition of Bo Swenson. Sixteen years later, Tomelilla Art Gallery now honors the memory of one of Sweden’s great modernists.
