Bo Beskow – from Österlen to New York
Backåkra is proud to be able to show examples of the long career of artist Bo Beskow (1906–1989). From 1945 to 1962 he was active in Österlen and in New York.
Bo was the son of Natanael and Elsa Beskow, and after studying art in Sweden and internationally he became a skilled portrait painter, and he was also known for his murals and window decorations. They can be seen in the UN building in New York and in Skara Cathedral, among other places.
Bo Beskow was a good friend of both the author Johan Steinbeck and the UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld.
