We have the pleasure of inviting you to an exciting seminar on building maintenance and renovation of houses that have been empty for a long time. Arianna Benigno from the building maintenance association will come and hold the seminar. It will be a unique opportunity to learn about the challenges and opportunities that arise when tackling the restoration and preservation of older buildings that have been abandoned.
Arianna's interest in building maintenance started when she and her husband bought a beautiful Art Nouveau villa from 1906. It has been rewarding to learn traditional methods of caring for the old house. Her interest has grown to include research into the history of the older Åkarp houses, focusing on both the houses and their owners. Renovations haven't always been beneficial to the houses, and recently Arianna has started helping others find information about their houses for renovation guidelines. She emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural and historical environments despite the development of society, and believes that this can be done without demolishing or destroying. The balance between conservation and development is central to her.
