Parrot shooting at Glimmingehus

On the Ascension weekend, we dedicate ourselves to parrot shooting here at Glimmingehus! With the so-called blunt arrow with a blunt rubber tip, you should try to hit the wood parrot up on a high pole. Every day, the parrot king, queen, prince and princess of the day are crowned on the castle steps!

The custom comes from the shooting exercises that the medieval guild had in the spring in connection with the selection of armed men for the defense of the respective city. They then shot with a crossbow, and the winner was called parrot king. He was given a silver bird to wear around his neck until next year.

Try parrot shooting between 12-15. At 15 there will be a competition and at about 15.45 the winner of the day will be crowned on the castle steps! Castle tours are given daily at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
