Henrik Valentin: Light in the October darkness
Henrik Valentin is a writer, playwright and lecturer. Based on the performance "Light in the October Darkness", which was performed at Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg, he has put together a descriptive visual lecture about the flight of the Danish Jews across the strait in October 1943. But it is also about the reception and the refugees' time in Sweden and about their returning to Denmark after the war. The lecture, which contains some dramatized parts, deals with the background to the escape, how the escape took place, the zeitgeist and the reception along the west coast of Scania. In addition, Henrik Valentin addresses the tangible anti-Semitism and Nazism that was widespread even in well-established circles in Sweden. Price: SEK 150. Registration and advance purchase via the museum's website: simrishamn.se/museum.
After the talk, there is an opportunity to see the exhibition "I came alone" together with staff from the museum. The exhibition is a traveling exhibition produced by the Forum for Living History.
