Memoirs of a Single Aunt
An autobiographical singing and storytelling performance, embodied in words and tones by Gitte Pålsson. "How I survived abuse with the help of music, humor and the devil's name"
She takes the audience on a musical journey from the 5-year-old girl who stands in Ystad's harbor and listens to her grandmother's advice about life and through difficulties in a school culture in the 60s where the children would not have a place, the music studies in Stockholm and then the trip to Morocco where abuse ended in prison.
"When I came home from Morocco, aged twenty-one, I felt like 80 years old - says Gitte - now that I'm 63, I sometimes feel like 21 - so I have some catching up to do!"
Sven Kristersson has processed the lyrics and monologues and directed the performance.
Gitte Pålsson is known for the cultural bridge she has built between Bolivia and Sweden, which characterizes her musical career and her passion for life.
